Drums for Peace Celebrations The Orange Hall is a little white building in the alley between the Strathcona Farmer's Market and the Strathcona Library. Parking is in the alley or on 104th street or off 103rd street north of the Arts Barn construction. Sunday, January 26, 2003 The Sara Scout Hall is on the south side of Rideau Road 1 1/2 blocks west of 4th Street SW just south of the Elbow River. Please park on the south side of the street if you can. $20/person, $30/family (or donation if you can't afford this) Children welcome! It's time to overwhelm the drums of war by pumping up the love in our hearts and beating the drums of peace! As everything is connected energetically, your thoughts and feelings affect the whole. When we come together as a group with a focused intention we can have even more effect on the whole. The intention of these celebrations is to have fun, build up the energy of joy, love and bliss and direct it towards a peaceful, healthy planet and healthy lives for ourselves. As one participant who had been at a similar event in 2001 said "The feeling of connection and peace has been there ever since for me and I wanted some more!" I personally find this the most powerful way I've experienced to focus my energies in praying for the world I love. For more background, see Do-It-Yourself Earth Healing Ceremony and Why Drum for Peace articles. Bring: We'll drum and make a joyful noise to celebrate the beauty of the world we love and direct energy towards peace. In this workshop you will discover:
The essence of our being is our soul. Sometimes a part of our essence may leave us and with it will go an essential human quality (eg. ability to trust, playfulness). This is usually a natural coping response to trauma (eg. car accident, abusive situation). Usually the essence returns naturally, but sometimes not. We may also to give a part of our essence to someone else, or they may take it. When we have soul loss, we feel something's missing and we often look outside ourselves to fill that--through others, through addictions, through compulsive behaviour. We may do much personal growth work and still feel stuck. We may feel unnaturally connected to others. Shamanic healing brings back those lost parts of our essence. Shamanic healing also removes energy blocks from our bodies. When we have such blocks we feel less energetic and may develop physical ailments. In this workshop, you'll learn:
Past participants have said "Care of the Soul" has:
You may experience personal healing in the workshop and we may also demonstrate a shamanic healing. Sign-up:
Fire Ceremony An amazingly powerful ceremony to release and transform core beliefs blocking you from moving forward. You'll need to prepare individually during the day. We'll meet at a bonfire site to collectively burn and transform our core beliefs in the evening. Core beliefs are deep-seated beliefs you hold about what is possible for you. Your actions will reflect these beliefs but you may not be consciously aware of them. Often it is just when you are ready to fulfill a dream that you find you are sabotaging your ability to reach that goal. This is usually because of a blocking core belief (eg. I'm not lovable, I will be a bad parent, I'm not smart enough to get a degree). This day-long process of identifying the belief in the morning through shamanic journeying or deep meditation, then living the belief out all day, and burning it in the evening, is the most effective way I know to work through core beliefs. If you're coming, you must do the preparatory work, starting the morning of the fire ceremony. |
